If this is referring to files associations, than I can't see how a software can be better than another, thus I assume that I misunderstand what that means as well. XnView is also free, is as customisable (if you bother trying), "better" is not very descriptive, if you want powerful editing tools you can use photoshop filters (like the bundled Harry's filters), and I fail to understand what "better integration in the OS" means. "Free, more customizable, better and vastly more powerful editing tools, better integration into the windows platform." I do not personally like IrfanView (the interface didn't seem to mature since the Windows 16bits days), and if I'm going to use ACDsee, I'll want to use the classic version, and in which case I'd rather use the free XnView which gives ACDSee classic a run for its money.

I prefer it over Faststone without a thought (last time I checked, XnView was faster, snappier, and I cannot stand how FastStone enforces their skin over the standard Windows look that I carefully selected and am happy with).
